OS-SAF-103 Hazardous Material Safety

Overview

Hazardous material is any toxic or harmful chemical substance at the workplace. You must be able to identify hazardous substances to keep yourself and others safe. Improperly handling hazardous material or hazardous waste could be detrimental or deadly. This course will explain how to follow the proper guidelines to safely classify, label, handle, store, and dispose of hazardous chemicals.

By the end of this course, you will be able to

• Identify and describe multiple toxic materials
• Describe recent changes to the Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom)
• Explain the difference between hazardous material and hazardous waste
• Describe the requirements of the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) standard
• List the methods and requirements for storing hazardous material
