Overview

Blueprints, or engineering drawings, are used from the design stage to the final assembly of the product. In this course, you will learn the history of blueprints, how they are created, and the terminology associated with the drawings. You will also learn about the special language of lines, symbols, notes, and abbreviations that directs the reader to the source of all information required to manufacture the product.

By the end of this course, you will be able to

• Define the language of blueprints
• Identify the shapes, line types, and angle types used on blueprints
• Explain how blueprints are drawn
• Read and interpret each type of line used in a blueprint drawing
• Learn about the different types of dimensions and tolerances, and how they make it possible to mass produce products with high levels of consistency and accuracy
• Recognize the most common symbols used on blueprints to communicate additional information about the product
